Ruya joined Buoy in 2024 as a communications generalist with a wealth of nonprofit experience. She supports Buoy clients with communications and social media strategy and is particularly interested in working with clients in the social justice space.

Ruya has held communications roles across Colorado and the Washington, DC, area. She successfully implemented peer-to-peer texting as a fundraising stream at Food & Friends, created Metropolitan State University of Denver’s first crisis communications plans, and developed tactics at American Furniture Warehouse that were described as a “model for hyper-localized social media strategy.”

She earned a master's in strategic communications from American University and a bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College.

Ruya currently splits her time between the East and West Coasts and enjoys travel, meditation, and stand-up comedy.
